3.An expansion at the National Widget Company.  They are adding a manufacturing facility in Regina, Saskatchewan which will add another 100 employees to the company.  They need it because the Chinese market has been such a success that they need the extra capacity.

Analyzing Atwood’s Blogpost

In Atwood’s article Because Reading is Fundamental, he outlines the importance of listening, or reading within the context of the blogosphere. Atwood’s demographic seems to be from around 19-25 years of age. The language used in the piece is quite simple and colloquial. This straightforward and simple writing style implies that the occupation and education level of the reader is most likely entry level jobs with little post secondary education. The blog entry begins with image of a user’s information displayed next to their name in a discussion. The image catches your eye while helping to emphasize his key point. It shows peoples focus on numbers of posts and wanting those numbers to be high without concern for quality of content. His key idea in the article is on the value of conversations and how that is affected by how much people in conversations talk. Drug Decriminalization

In 2016, 2,205,300 people were incarcerated for drug possession in the US alone. This is the highest incarceration rate in the world. This number shows the alarming rates at which individuals are getting punished for drug use. The incarceration of drug users only exacerbates and contributes to drug abuse in individuals, whereas decriminalization would offer alternative solutions to those struggling with substance issues. Countries such as Portugal have already decriminalized drug possession and are seeing positive results in lowering numbers of drug related deaths and better prevention of HIV. As opposed to what many may think, “There is essentially no relationship between the punitiveness of a country’s drug laws and its rates of drug use.” Says drug reform think tank Transform .
